Sometimes it can be a challenge to decide what to wear to your session. Well worry no longer, I have some pointers and advice for you! How a photo will turn out often plays in with how you and your family are dressed.
Step number 1, what time of year is it? Cause this plays into the first step, if it is summer you probably want to stay away from your whole family wearing green. The grass is green and the trees are in full bloom... so too much green if you also wear green. Is it winter? I know it can be cold but stay away from big parkas, either go with a nice jacket or sweater, or long sleeve. In fall and spring, avoid browns and oranges as they just blend in with the background. If you are ever unsure, denim, black, gray or light pastels like lilac or blue are good options.
Step number 2, you and your family don't all have to wear blue, you can choose 1-2 colors and color coordinate them. Make sure the colors you choose match with your hair and eye color. For example I am very pale and blonde hair, so for me wearing beige colors is out!!
Step number 3, please stay away from logos unless you are going for a themed session. The logos are a distraction and don't look attractive in a photo.
Step number 4, dress up, you should wear something that makes you feel good, something you maybe don't wear every day! Button up shirts are great for your boys or your husband. You may want to wear a dress. Avoid plain old t-shirts.
Step number 5, bring along extra outfits for those little ones who may spit up, make a mess with milk or their snack.
Step number 6, SHOES! If your session is in a field, valley, country, probably keep away from wearing heels. Also try not to reach for the runners for the kids. Black or brown dress shoes for the boys and dad look spot on! Converses or flats work for almost any session and definitely boots that are ankle or higher. Make sure whatever your shoes choice is that it goes with your outfit.
